Why Fad Diets Don't Work

Fad diets are always so appealing. Its something new, something you haven't tried yet, something you have heard people talk about with a few "success" stories. Just a simple internet search reveals an overwhelming amount of options....

But if you are a person who struggles with weight management a fad diet is the worst option for you. Here are three reasons why:

Fad diets hollowly claim quick results with minimal work. They may produce quick results, but those results never last because the lifestyle and diet are not sustainable. Anything worth having takes some work to achieve! Think about how long it took for you to gain the weight--it will take some time to get and keep the weight off.

Fad diets eliminate a food or a food group. Any diet that asks you to eliminate a food or a food group entirely (outside of a food allergy, sensitivity, or intolerance) is unbalanced. All foods can be incorporated into a healthy diet with moderation (like ice cream)!

Fad diets are designed to be temporary. Sometimes, a temporary diet is appropriated if a person is trying to jumpstart weight loss, experience a cleanse, or learn a new diet based on a medical condition like diabetes. But if you are looking for a way to lose weight and keep it off for LIFE, a fad diet is not for you.

So what is the alternative to fad diets for those needing to lose weight? A lifestyle change toward a balanced, healthy diet that fits you and your family, not a cookie-cutter diet that everyone else is trying to follow.
